Farm Programs

School Field Trip

Elementary

Grades 2-5

Field Trips will include three tours on the grounds of the Arboretum.  Children in grades 2-5 will tour through one of the many Arboretum paths, Westbrook Manor and the Community Supported Agricultural (CSA) Farm. All tours are presented by educators and experienced  docents

The Arboretum

The students will enjoy a leisurely walk through the gardens making several stops along the way to learn about specific Arboretum specimens.

Westbrook Manor

The Manor house was designed in 1886 for William Bayard Cutting (1850-1912) by the architect Charles C. Haight in the Tudor style. Students will be guided through this magnificent manor house making stops in designated rooms.

Farm

The Farm is located on 14 acres of tillable soil, adjacent to the estate’s original barn, on land that was the former cow pasture of the Bayard Cutting Estate. It is the only Community Supported Agricultural Farm in the New York State Park System. Students will tour the garden and meet our free range chickens.

The majority of field trip activities are outside; therefore, if there is a threat of inclement weather on the day of your visit, you will be contacted by the Education Coordinator. Trips canceled due to inclement weather maybe completely canceled or rescheduled if the scheduling permits
