BCAHS invites you to a Spring Daffodil Walk with Michael Runkel
Saturday, April 26, 2014 1:15 pm to 3:15 pm Meet at the Gazebo
Bring your family and explore the Arboretum’s daffodil collection with Michael Runkel. In addition to the thousands of naturalized daffodils that adorn the Arboretum’s spring landscape, you will find 28 named varieties of narcissus, representing each of the thirteen horticultural divisions. On your walk through the New Pinetum, Michael will teach you the difference between bulbs, corms, tubers, and rhizomes and show you the differences between the divisions and variations in color in the collection.
Michael has served as the Arboretum’s landscape curator for the past two years. Michael was graduated from Farmingdale State College with a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture. While studying at Farmingdale, Michael supplemented his education by working at Planting Fields Arboretum under the tutelage of Vincent Simeone.
