At Bayard Cutting Arboretum, not only do we cherish our volunteers, we couldn’t do what we do without them. We rely on generous, dedicated people to help us achieve our mission—encouraging the planting and conservation of trees and other plants for a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world.

Bayard Cutting Arboretum Volunteer Job Descriptions


Garden Docent  

Receive training and lead guided tours of the grounds for adults and children.

Manor House Docent

Receive training and lead guided tours of Westbrook Manor week ends and for reserved group tours.

Education Docent

Assist with special education projects.

Garden & Horticulture

Assist staff in weeding, raking, mulching, and other garden tasks.

CSA Farm

Assist in farm tasks weeding, starting seeds, transplanting seedlings and harvesting crops.


Manor House Greeter

Welcome visitors to Westbrook Manor. Responsible for booking tours. Provide visitors with information on activities and events.

Carpentry and Maintenance

Individuals with carpentry skills for restoration projects, maintenance and event set up.
